Operation At Ease

Rewarding deserving soldiers and their families with a complimentary R&R weekend on the Carolina Coast.  Thanks OAE for making a difference by serving those who keep us free!  Just a note they are booked up for this season. However they might have some cancellations, so you can email them, but keep in mind it may be booked up.

Operation At Ease is St. James Plantation community’s way of saying Thank you! to the active duty military personnel returning from or about to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan.  Their offer is a few days of complimentary lodging and activities at no cost to the service person or his/her family.  All you just need to get here and absorb the cost of a few meals.  They can accommodate 2-4 adults or a family with several children.

So about Brunswick County NC offers much recreation such as St James Plantation, a residential golf course community, which is about a 2.5 – 3 hour drive from Ft. Bragg.  We are on the Inter-coastal Waterway (ICW) and just a few minutes from the beaches on Oak Island, N.C.  Southport and its historic section and shops are close by
(www.downtownsouthport.org).   Wilmington, NC, is approximately a 45 minute drive (www.capefearguide.com.)

OAE offers tennis, 3 swimming pools (including one indoor pool), biking, a marina, and access to our beach club facility on Oak Island. Our local theatre is offering free movie passes and two local restaurants are providing a complimentary breakfast.
Each family can choose one of the following complimentary activities, pending availability at the time requested:
  • Golf
  • A massage or facial
  • A boat ride on the ICW
  • A walking tour of historic Southport
  • Participation in a guided kayak trip
  • Family pictures taken on the beach

  1. This is wonderful. Why not reserve families who have deployed? We make the same sacrifices during deployment and need R&R too!

  2. You should contact them, I am sure they serve reservist and guard families who have just returned from deployment orders, you just have to contact them, and like the AD you probably have to provide the deployment orders.
