In a split second fort he second time this year

I haven't written in a while, I have been swamped with this term with this Research Methods class. So I thought I would write tonight and reach out to you. This is the second time this year I have had to write a post concerning death. It has been bothering me. Last week a military spouse, neighbor and a friend was killed in a car accident. A dump truck driver was speeding and ran a red light, and hit her van. All her children were in the van with her, and they survived but she didn't. That really affected me. In an instance that family was changed, and while death is just "a knock away" the harsh reality is that it is uncommon for milspouses to be killed. It really got me to thinking about how precious life is, and in a split second we can leave this earth forever. Earilier this year another military spouse died, of a heart attack. I am not sure but when I did talk to him, he told me that he didn't like his job he was working at and he really wanted a change. I tell you if you let it stress will kill you, and worrying over things. Two young lives, who leave behind young children, lost forever.

I should take my own advice, when something is bothering me especially a life changing move such as starting a new job in a different city, quitting a job, meeting my "new" brother, moving away from comfortable, stepping out of my zone, I stress over the situation then I get depressed because I don't know what to do. I rally my closest girlfriends and they are the ones who gets these random questions about what would you do? What should I do? They all tell me the same thing. This is a trait that I learned about myself from taking a class from the Institute of Political Leadership, that I really have to weigh it all out, especially when I make decisions, I have a family that it will affect, I have to think of all the players in my life first before I can make my decision. I also learned that in order to change people's minds you need to reach out to them and make a connection.

I also see that life is what you make it, you can try to be someone else, and live their life and copy what they do, or you can make your own way and stop trying to be like them. Being "you" is what makes you unique, and while you can have a role model, don't try to become them. Life isn't always easy, it is what you make it.

I believe in hard work, and I don't think people should side step their way to the top, while it is always glamorous it isn't real. It doesn't define your character, TO me it doesn't make you genuine and in the world we live in these days everyone is faking it, and it is hard to see the real you when you are always trying to be someone else. Back in June I made some changes to my life, and edited out the unimportant to focus on what was really important, my family and me.

SO my advice to you is, life is really to short to be concerned about the little stuff, don't go to bed angry at your spouse, always say I love you to the people who matter the most, and do the things that make you happy, because deep down if you are happy then your family is happy and your life is happy. Trust in something, Follow your heart, keep looking and don't settle.

Just remember if today was the last day of your life, would you die happy?
